If you're up for a bike adventure, checking out a new area and wanting to try a longer mountain bike packing trip and enjoy the finer things in life then this trip is for you. We're cheating a bit and staying at a luxury hotel to have a hot shower and a night out with a great dinner and a big breakfast the next morning to help fuel and refresh us part way through the trip! Also included in this overnight stay is a visit to the world renowned Kananaskis Nordic Spa - complete with hot tubs, hydrotherapy pools, saunas and the option of booking a massage. You'll come home relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to plan your next bikepacking adventure. This trip is scheduled from June 30th to July 3rd and is van supported.

We'll be staying at the Kananaskis Pomeroy Lodge for Canada Day on July 1st. The Pomeroy Lodge is a 4 star luxury hotel. We'll be celebrating in style by dining at one on of the Pomeroy Lodges excellent restaurants. The food is gourmet and guaranteed to impress you.

We'll travel within the majestic Rocky Mountains of Canada from beautiful Canmore, Alberta to Kananaskis Country and back over 4 days. You will be in awe of the jaw dropping Rocky Mountain scenery, and will come home relaxed, rejuvenated, and planning how you can move to the area. One of your guides is also a certified Yoga Instructor, who will take you through a yoga class on a daily basis.

You must be comfortable biking 35 km's a day with up to 1250 m's of elevation gain so a decent base level of fitness is required, as well as Intermediate to Strong Intermediate mountain bike handling skills (i.e. you are comfortable mountain biking on most moderate to darker blue Intermediate Mountain Biking Trails). There are some parts of the trail that will involve hiking your bike.
This is a guided and catered experience with guidance on mountain bike packing for those who don't have any experience with it. The trip takes place primarily on single track trails, so a mountain bike is required. Most of our guides use a dual suspension bike, but a hard tail mountain bike would also work well. We have partnerships set up with some awesome bike shops in Calgary and Canmore, so if you're flying in from out of town and would prefer to rent a bike vs bringing your own this can be arranged.
We are able to accommodate dietary restrictions, and have options available for those who are gluten intolerant, vegetarian and vegan. Our guides will prepare these delicious meals for you around the campfire so you can just sit back, relax and enjoy the experience. Get in touch if you have any dietary requirements and we'll get this sorted for you.
We will send you a gear list of what you'll need for the trip, as well as instruction and guidance on how to pack everything on your bike if you require it. It's ok if you haven't invested in bikepacking bags yet, as you can use a dry bag attached to your handle bars for this offering. Most of our trips are designed to give you a taste of bike packing in a fun, safe and supportive environment with our qualified guides who have an abundance of backcountry experience. Our bike packing trips operate on a 5 to 1 client to guide ratio, so you'll get lots of instruction and attention throughout the trip.

Our guides are experienced mountain bikers with a lot of backcountry experience in the Rocky Mountains in both summer and winter environments. They all possess at least the 80 hour Wilderness First Aid course or higher training. Some of Flow's guides are also certified Association of Canadian Mountain Guide (ACMG) hiking guides who are billingual (french and english), and possess their Professional Mountain Bike Instructor Level 1 and/or 2 training. They are also all very supportive, encouraging and generally just great relaxed and awesome people to be around. We know you'll feel right at home with them from the start.

If you're flying into Calgary for this trip, we can arrange to pick you up. You'll need to fly in the day before we leave for our adventure on two wheels, in order to allow time to put together your bike and prepare for the trip. It is suggested that you arrive at 3 pm or before so as to allow enough time to get organized. We have storage available too if you need to leave some luggage, your bike bag, etc. while we're off on our adventure.

We also have partnerships with local hotels in Canmore, Kananaskis Country and Calgary that offer discounts to Flow customers who would like to book accommodation before or after our Bikepacking trips. Please get in touch with us for the discount code. We also have partnerships with local bike shops, so if you're flying from other parts of the country or from overseas and would prefer to rent a bike for the trip, we can also get this sorted for you. And we have a partnership set up with a local bike packing gear company, offering discounts to Flow participants. Please refer to our partnership page for further information: https://www.flowbikeadventures.com/partnerships/

We are very excited to be offering a Multi Day Guided Mountain Bike Holiday within the Canadian Rockies from August 19th to 22nd 2023. We’ll meet in Calgary, Alberta on Day 1 and will help you to assemble your bike if you have flown into the city, or assist in picking up a bike rental if you’ve gone with this option. We will then travel down to Crowsnest Pass within the South Rockies – where the Canadian Norco Enduro Series was held in 2019 and 2022, as well as the Single Track 6 and Crowsnest 100 Mountain Bike Races. We will stay at the best Bed ‘n Breakfast in the area with amazing hosts who will make you feel welcome and right at home. The riding here is great and the views are stunning. We’ll then head to Canmore, Alberta where we will stay for the next 3 nights in a luxury mountain home. Canmore was recently listed on the 2021 Sentiment Index Top 100 Most Loved Destinations Around The World based on consumer sentiment, and Canmore placed in 5th spot for destinations within Canada. It has the best panoramic views out of any mountain town in Western Canada in our opinion, and hasn’t lost it’s small town charm even as it’s continued to gain popularity with domestic and international travelers. Our last night will be spent at the Pomeroy Lodge in Kananaskis, where we will enjoy the Kananaskis Nordic Spa with Hydrotherapy Treatment. It will also be possible to book a massage at the Kananaskis Nordic Spa – contact us if you’re interested in this option and we’ll help to get it sorted for you.

Here is a more detailed itinerary:

Day 1: Meet ‘n greet in Calgary at noon. We will pick you up at the airport, or at a hotel if you’ve stayed over night (most hotels at the airport have shuttles so you can catch a ride with them to your hotel if you need to arrive the day before.) We will help assemble your bike if you’ve flown into the city and ensure bikes are in good working order. We will also pick up rental bikes for those who have elected to go with this option. Then, we’ll travel down to Crowsnest Pass and may get in a quick warm up ride prior to having dinner and settling in for the night.

Day 2: Riding in the Crowsnest Pass area is on the agenda, as the area has some amazing Blue and Black trails that we will take some time exploring. You’ll also be in awe of the great views of the Southern Rockies. We will stay the night in Crowsnest Pass and enjoy more of this gem of a town’s charm.

Day 3: We will ride within the Crowsnest Pass area for a second day, and may explore a more remote region where we likely won’t see any other people. The views will be stunning and you’ll already be thinking of how you can move to the Canadian Rockies. After our epic day of riding, we will travel from Crowsnest Pass to Canmore, Alberta where we will spend the next 3 nights in a luxury mountain home (family style accommodation).

Day 4: We’ll wake up in beautiful Canmore, Alberta that in our humble opinion has the best panoramic view of the mountains from any mountain town in Western Canada. It is simply breathtaking scenery. Today, we’ll ride one of the most epic alpine ridges in Kananaskis Country. The trail is rated black and will be a long but amazing day in the saddle. We’ll have lunch on the summit and enjoy a glorious descent where you’ll be sure to have a huge sh$! eating grin on your face.

Day 5: We’ve planned to take you to Moose Mountain in Bragg Creek for a downhill shuttle day. The area has some of the most technical and interesting riding in the region. We are pretty excited to show you this piece of our backyard as it’s still a bit of a secret riding destination in Canada.

Day 6: We will leave Canmore and head to the luxurious Pomeroy Lodge in Kananaskis Country for our last night. The plan is to ride one of the best trails within Kananaskis Country which will involve bagging a peak, and then we will visit the Kananaskis Nordic Spa to enjoy the amazing hydrotherapy treatments. It’s also possible to book yourself a massage at this time – please let us know if you’re interested in this option and we will help to get this sorted for you. We’ll then enjoy our last meal with the group at one of the Pomeroy’s great restaurants.

Day 7: Our final day of riding with take us back to Bragg Creek to enjoy more amazing trails within the area. We will then travel to Calgary and say our good byes after an incredible trip. But if you’d prefer to stay a few extra days, we can help to arrange this for you – get in touch with us for further information.
